Google Search Book: AddSense from Google

The Google AddSense (AdSense) program lets webmasters “rent” space on their pages to Google-affiliated advertisers. Ads from those advertisers appear on the webmaster’s pages. Google automatically selects appropriate ads based on the content of the page: a page about auto parts gets ads for auto parts; a page about poetry gets ads about poetry.

To be successful with AddSense, you need to have each page on your website focused on a particular “theme” or keyword group. This will make it more likely for visitors looking for information to find the page, and it will make it easier for the Google AddSense software to select appropriate ads for your page
To be successful with AddSense, there is no substitute for good content, and lots of it. Images may be fun to look at, but text is what helps people find your page and helps Google select good ads for it.
AdSense isn’t a “get rich quick scheme”: it takes a lot of work to be successful. But many people who put in the work are successful. It can be a good supplement to your regular income, or, if you have a special talent for building webpages, it can become a complete income stream all in itself.
